TATTOO Aftercare

Always keep in mind that fresh tattoos are open wounds! If you neglect your aftercare routine, you risk infection and/or damage to the artwork. Please read through my instructions carefully and contact me with any questions or concerns!

Healing Instructions

If this is your first tattoo (or if it’s just been a while), here is what to expect during the healing process →

Please follow the step-by-step instructions below, depending on your preferred healing method.

Standard Aftercare

Absorbent Dri-Loc pads, stretchy wrap and tape—pretty standard wound care! This method requires a little more effort than Saniderm but it is better for those with sensitive skin or adhesive allergies.

Saniderm aftercare

Saniderm is a clear, adhesive bandage that protects your tattoo from bacteria and friction. This method may be better for those who are more at-risk of coming into contact with harmful bacteria (travel, pets, jobs, etc).

Aftercare Products

I recommend using Dr. Bronner’s unscented castile soap and Hustle Butter for healing but anything that is free of synthetic ingredients, dyes and fragrances should be fine to use as well. (No Aquaphor or any other petroleum-based ointment, please!)

I have free aftercare kits available that include a 2oz bottle of Dr. Bronner’s soap and a .25oz packet of Hustle Butter. Each kit should last at least 1–2 tattoos, if stored properly (depending on size). I can provide extra Saniderm as well.

For larger, multi-session tattoos: buying your own aftercare products ahead of time is highly encouraged!

Touch-Ups

I offer 1 free touch-up within a year of your appointment. Small touch-ups are always free when they’re done at the same time as a new tattoo. After 1 year (without a new tattoo appointment), there is a set-up fee of $50.

If you’d like to schedule a touch-up, please send me an email with pictures attached so I can assess what is needed.
